About Calico Pony

My name is Katie Mendl and I am the photographer behind Calico Pony. I have been a professional photographer for over ten years, schooled and experienced in portraiture, weddings, editorial, family and animal photography.

In my youth, I worked throughout Australia on standardbred and thoroughbred studs, and 3 years as a polo groom before studying a Bachelor of Agricultural Commerce, followed by a Graduate Diploma in Education and then finally falling on my greatest passion, photography. I studied full time at the Brisbane College of Photography and Art before taking on a full time career in photography.

I have been blessed that many local horse studs and owners have opened their gates to me, allowing me to wander their paddocks and photograph their beautiful horses.
